Up close and personal with a “Tako”

It’s been a minute since we’ve posted some new photos for all of you, so here you go! Your daily dose of ocean-critter love :)

This day octopus got up close and personal with a guest at our Makaha reef snorkel spot. As their name suggests, this type of octopus comes out during the day and the other type, the night octopus (super original, I know) comes out once the sun sets. “Tako” (pronounced as taco) just happens to be the Japanese word for these critters. Can you imagine making that mistake in a restaurant? Eeks!
Thank you, Jim for a great photo! Taken on 10/11/11.
